Whilst they may now be out of work there can't be many of Blackpool's ex-players who aren't secretly relieved that they won't have to return to Gloomfield Road next season. |

So when will Blackpool's luck finally change? It would seem not at the moment. One minute you read that Derby's excellent keeper Lee Grant will be missing for Tuesday nights game at Bloomfield Road and wonder if that is the break we need, and the next, Steve McLaren has gone to Stoke and borrowed their highly rated England Under 21 keeper Jack Butland. Jose Riga must wonder when his luck will change. |

In years to come when Blackpool fans are talking about the worst full match debut they've ever seen a Seasiders player make, then sadly for Joel Dielna his name will undoubtedly crop up. Let's not put all the blame on the youngster because there weren't many around him who covered themselves in glory in the opening half an hour at Huddersfield, but it appears he was first in Jose Riga's firing line. |

The previous League Cup exits have been dismissed fairly quickly. Even the defeat to them down the road was eased thanks to their fans mindless pitch invasion. However the defeat to Shrewsbury has far more serious ramifications. Whilst we may have been able to take something out of the second half against Forest, there was nothing for Blackpool fans to take out of this game. |

It may be scant consolation to Jose Riga but in the last two outings Ian Holloway and Paul Ince both succumbed to lower league opposition in the league cup and so no pressure in terms of our previous success in this competition! However, good news has been in short supply at Bloomfield Road of late and a moral boosting win is just what everyone could do with. |
